Sky is reportedly developing a UK version of US comedy institution Saturday Night Live.

The long-running show - known simply as SNL - has an ensemble cast of comedians, who perform topical sketches each week alongside celebrity guest hosts and performers.

According to Deadline, the proposed UK version is "in the early stages of development" at Sky, which is owned by Comcast - also owner of NBC, which airs the show in the States.

The publication says that UK comedians are "lining up to be involved" in the project, which is supposedly "the talk of British entertainment and talent circles".

The US show airs Sunday nights on the Sky Comedy channel in the UK.
