ITV has reportedly agreed to pay Phillip Schofield around six months' worth of wages following his axe from This Morning last week.

The 61-year-old announced on Saturday that he had decided to "step down" from hosting the show after 21 years amid rumours of a fall-out with co-star Holly Willoughby.

ITV said that Schofield will continue to host the British Soap Awards next month as planned, but The Sun says that the broadcaster has also agreed to keep paying his This Morning wages until towards the end of the year.

"Phil has been given his This Morning wages for six months - but if that was meant to make him feel better, it's just not working," a source told the newspaper.

"Phil feels he has been shown zero respect and he is devastated by how this has played out.

"He thinks the way he was forced to step down was so unjust and he feels completely broken by how this situation has been handled.

"This Morning was Phil's life and now he feels he has been knifed without proper consultation."

Willoughby is currently on an extended half-term break from the show but will return to the airwaves on June 5 with a series of guest presenters. body check tags ::
