Football legend Paul Gascoigne has reportedly signed up for a new reality show based around light deprivation.

The 55-year-old - a national hero in the '90s for his England exploits - has largely avoided appearing on UK reality shows but dipped his toe in the water with a stint on the Italian version of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! last year.

According to The Sun, Gazza has now agreed to take part in a new Channel 4 show called Scared of the Dark, which will see celebs challenged to adapt to a lack of light.

"This will be a real endurance challenge for Gazza - but that's the whole point of the show," a source told the newspaper.

"Along with the other celebrities taking part he'll have to survive in darkness for seven days in a specially constructed space.

"During that time he'll also have to complete a series of thought- provoking tasks in order to keep his place in the contest.

"Despite the scale of the challenge, Gazza passed all his assessments with flying colours and filming on the programme will start shortly."

The show, which is yet to be officially announced by C4, is likely to air later this year or early next year. body check tags ::
