Linda Robson has said that she is 'heartbroken' following her best friend and Birds of a Feather co-star Pauline Quirke's dementia diagnosis.

Steve Sheen, Quirke's husband of almost 30 years, revealed last week that the 65-year-old actress is retiring from "all commercial and professional duties" following her diagnosis in 2021.

Posting on Instagram, Robson shared pictures of the pair - including a throwback snap of them as sisters Sharon and Tracey in Birds, roles they first played in 1989.

She wrote: "This will be the only time I speak on behalf of my best friend, Pauline.

"For the past three years, I've been in close contact with her husband, Steve, and have spent time with Pauline. It breaks my heart to see her endure such a terrible illness.

"Out of respect for her family and her privacy, I will not be discussing this matter further."

As well as an extensive acting resume, Quirke also operates The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts, which has around 250 locations and more than 15,000 aspiring drama students. body check tags ::
