Keeping Up Appearances and Last of the Summer Wine star Josephine Tewson dies at the age of 91.

Josephine Tewson, best known for playing Hyacinth Bucket's long-suffering neighbour Elizabeth on Keeping Up Appearances, has died at the age of 91.

The actress also starred as Miss Davenport in classic sitcom Last of the Summer Wine and was a regular collaborator with Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett in their pomp.

Tewson's agent Jane Diamond said in a statement: "It is with great sadness that I can confirm the passing of Josephine Tewson.

"Josephine passed away peacefully last night at Denville Hall (retirement home) at the age of 91."

Tewson was married twice - first to Leonard Rossiter then to Henry Newman, who died in 1980.
