HBO's chief content officer Casey Bloys has said that he is relaxed about a potential second season of Mare of Easttown.
The drama, starring Kate Winslet as a police detective investigating a crime in a small Philadelphia town, was a critical and ratings success when it aired on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK in April and May.
Mare was always billed as a limited event series, running to just seven episodes, but the show's popularity has led to calls for a second season.
HBO recently agreed a three-year deal with showrunner Brad Ingelsby to work on projects for the network, a move that could open the door for the show to come back.
"If Brad felt like he had a story to tell that felt like it would be at the same level, I think everybody would be open to it," Bloys told Variety.
"Right now, he doesn't have that story. Who knows? We'll have to wait to see if they come up with something they're dying to tell."
He added: "Usually we take the lead from our creators. There's been no real conversations about what a season two would look like."
Winslet herself recently admitted that she "would absolutely love" to reprise the role in future. body check tags ::
