A newspaper publishes a blueprint to get Strictly Come Dancing safely on air this year amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Strictly Come Dancing producers have come up with an action plan to ensure that the show can go ahead as usual this year amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The social distancing measures in place as a result of the killer disease have caused a headache for TV productions around the globe - although with hints that the worst of the pandemic has now passed, the industry is taking tentative steps in getting back to work.

Strictly poses a particular challenge because the format requires very close contact between the contestants and their professional partners, but The Mirror has now published details of the show's plan to get on air.

The hosts: Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will continue to present the show together but socially-distanced from each other.

The judges: An elongated judges' desk is being created in order to maintain a safe distance between the judges, although Bruno Tonioli is unlikely to miss the start of the series as he is in the US working on Dancing With The Stars.

The contestants: The professional dancers will form a 'household bubble' with their celebrity partner and family - likely to be possible come September - allowing them to have close contact while living in separate homes.

The group dances: The pros will isolate together for two weeks in late July and early August, forming one large household, in order to pre-record all of the group dances in advance.

The studio audience: Plans are in place to let households attend recordings, sitting together on their own tables rather than in the usual rows of packed seating.

Blackpool week: The iconic midway point of the series has not yet been fully ruled out, with producers keeping an open mind about what the government rules may be come November.

Hair and makeup: With hairdressers likely to open in the UK in early July, the hair, makeup and costume teams will be able to prettify the cast, albeit while wearing PPE.
