Michael Barrymore is said to be hopeful that recent developments in the investigation of Stuart Lubbock's death will bring "justice" for his family.

In March 2001 Lubbock, a 31-year-old man from Essex, was found floating in the swimming pool at the home of Barrymore following a house party.

Barrymore, now 69, has always denied knowledge of what happened to Lubbock on the night in question and for years there was no progress in the case until March this year, when a 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of the assault and murder of Lubbock.

According to The Sun, Barrymore has told his former agent Mike Browne: "I just hope this is the end of it and that justice will finally be done for Stuart and his family.

"The police seem convinced with the evidence they have found but I've no idea what it is.

"They seem sure but I can't see how it can end in charges after so long."

Lubbock's father Terry has spent the last two decades campaigning for justice for his son but is now terminally ill with only months to live. body check tags ::
