G-A-Y announces a tie-up with McDonald's in order to enable it to re-open when the second coronavirus lockdown ends next week.

London's Heaven nightclub - home to G-A-Y - has announced plans to offer McDonald's to club-goers in order to meet the government's new coronavirus regulations.

Earlier this year the iconic venue underwent a remodelling to accommodate table service behind plexiglass, enabling it to re-open once the first coronavirus lockdown eased up over the summer.

The current lockdown will come to an end next Wednesday, December 2 - and with London to be classified as Tier 2, venues will be able to open and serve alcohol as long as it is accompanied by "a substantial meal".

To comply with the rules, G-A-Y at Heaven will be requiring customers to order McDonald's meals alongside drinks, with the food supplied by the restaurant's Strand branch - located just 130 metres away.

Announcing the news on social media, G-A-Y owner Jeremy Joseph revealed that the venue will open between 6pm and 11pm on Saturday, December 5 with a set from former X Factor and Eurovision contestant Lucie Jones.

The tier 2 rules surrounding food and alcohol remain somewhat murky and it is unclear whether G-A-Y will require customers to order a McDonald's meal alongside every round of drinks purchased.
