Father Ted co-creator Graham Linehan is permanently banned from Twitter for an alleged transphobic post.

Father Ted and The IT Crowd co-creator Graham Linehan has been permanently banned from Twitter after making a post that was allegedly deemed to be transphobic.

The 52-year-old has been a long-term critic of transgenderism, specifically relating to issues of self-identification and child transitions, the latter of which he has compared to Nazi experiments on children.

In a 2018 interview he also expressed fears that the trans movement could be used as a cover for "fetishists, con-men, and simply abusive misogynists".

In response to a tweet from the Women's Institute wishing a happy Pride to all of their transgender members over the weekend, Linehan is said to have replied: "Men aren't women tho"

Twitter has since banned his account permanently, explaining in a statement to Metro: "The account has been permanently suspended after repeated violations of our rules against hateful conduct and platform manipulation."

Linehan's ban for apparent transphobia comes just weeks after Harry Potter author JK Rowling came under fire for a series of questionable posts surrounding transgender issues.
