The 1975 were ordered off stage at a gig in Malaysia over the weekend after frontman Matty Healy launched into a rant against the country's stance on LGBT rights.

The group were performing at the Good Vibes Festival in Kuala Lumpur when Healy took the opportunity to discuss local laws, which punish homosexuality by up to 20 years in prison.

"I don't see the fucking point, right," he said, allegedly after drinking alcohol on stage. "I do not see the point of inviting The 1975 to a country and then telling us who we can have sex with.

"I'll take your money, you can ban me, but I've done this before and it doesn't feel good."

Healy then grabbed bandmate Ross MacDonald for a kiss but shortly afterwards was instructed to end the set, telling the audience as he left: "Alright, we just got banned from Kuala Lumpur, see you later."

Malaysian authorities then took the decision to cancel the rest of the festival, which still had two days left to run. body check tags ::
