Sir Elton John and Years & Years will perform together at tonight's Brit Awards, it has been confirmed.

The ceremony at The O2 Arena is being used as one of the government's test pilots for mass events in the post-coronavirus era, with 4,000 audience members in attendance without the need for masks or social distancing.

Elton is said to have been enthralled by the Russell T Davies drama It's A Sin - starring Years & Years frontman Olly Alexander in the lead role - when it aired on Channel 4 earlier this year and the pair have since become friends.

In honour of the show, they will duet on a cover of the Pet Shop Boys classic 'It's A Sin' tonight - a move confirmed on Instagram by the Brits on Monday night.

"Elton and Olly have become unlikely pals and when the idea was floated that they should perform together on the night they jumped at it," a source told The Sun.

"It has been a last-minute decision and it is all being kept hush hush so there will be a surprise for viewers, but they have been working hard to put on something really special."

The ceremony airs live on ITV from 8pm.
