'90s pop legend Dario G has revealed that he has been recently diagnosed with stage-four rectal cancer.

The musician - real name Paul Spencer - is perhaps best known for the dance anthem 'Sunchyme', which peaked at number two in the UK singles chart in 1997.

Dario G then operated as a trio, but Spencer has adopted it as his moniker after his two bandmates left and has continued releasing music ever since.

Posting on Twitter, he told fans: "Hard to write this. I've just found out that I've got stage 4 rectal cancer and a shadow on my liver. That's damn hard to read too I'm sure.

"Gonna give it my best shot though. Stay positive, cos I am. Always. Seeing the doctors on Friday to discuss the next steps. #fuckcancer"
