WandaVision finale: Mid-credits and post-credits scenes explained

:Headline: WandaVision finale: Mid-credits and post-credits scenes explained: ID:437915: from db_amp
Recap what happened in the two bonus scenes in the WandaVision finale.

WandaVision is over. In the final episode - one-sentence summary alert - Wanda finally embraced her persona of the Scarlet Witch, giving Agatha her comeuppance before making the heartbreaking decision to remove the Hex on Westview, in the process bidding adieu to Vision and their two boys.

As is customary for a Marvel title, the show ended with not only a mid-credits scene but also WandaVision's first and last post-credits scene. Here, we attempt to explain what both could mean for the future.

Mid-credits: Monica meets a Skrull

After Wanda zips off, Monica (Teyonah Parris) is called into the cinema by an agent, who then reveals herself to be a Skrull. The Skrulls are a shapeshifting race of aliens introduced in Captain Marvel, which featured Monica's now-deceased mother Maria Rambeau.

The Skrull says that she was sent by an "old friend" of her mother, adding that this old friend would like to meet her, pointing upwards at the sky.

Parris has already been confirmed for the cast of Captain Marvel 2, due for release in 2022, so this scene appears to tee that up nicely. Additionally, the forthcoming Disney+ series Ms. Marvel will tie into the new movie, leaving open the possibility that Monica could also have some role in that show too.

As for the old friend? All clues point to Samuel L Jackson's Nick Fury, who was revealed to be in outer space in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Post-credits: Wanda in the woods

In the final scene of the series we catch up with Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen), who appears to be living a secluded life in a cabin in the mountains, supping on tea on her porch.

In the back room, however, we see what seems to be an astral projection of the Scarlet Witch absorbing every bit of information that she can from the Darkhold - the book of magic revealed by Agatha earlier in the episode.

As she studies, she is interrupted by the distant sounds of her twin boys, Billy and Tommy, begging for help - despite them having been apparently erased when the Hex on Westview was lifted.

We've previously been told that WandaVision will directly lead in to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness - a fact that led to unrealised rumours of a Benedict Cumberbatch cameo - and this scene implies that Wanda's unresolved family issues will feature in that film.

The bad news? There's more than a year to go until we find out, with the movie not due for release until March 25, 2022.
