The new season of Love Island in the US will reportedly go ahead after all, albeit in a Las Vegas hotel instead of a Fijian villa.

The US version of Love Island will reportedly go ahead as planned this year in a Las Vegas hotel.

The first season of the show, which is broadcast on CBS in the US, was filmed in a villa in Fiji last summer and the new run had been earmarked to begin this month.

The coronavirus pandemic brought production to a standstill, but Vulture reports that work has now started on season two at The Cromwell hotel in Las Vegas, which has been closed to the public since March.

The website says that the show will take over the entire hotel for the duration of the shoot, with all cast and crew isolating together there while it is on the air.

Producers will look to cast contestants from the Vegas area as well as Los Angeles, which is just a few hours' drive away.

The news comes after the original UK version was scrapped entirely for 2020 due to COVID-19 concerns.
