The new series of Love Island will launch three weeks later than usual at the end of June, according to a report.

The new series of Love Island will reportedly begin on ITV2 at the end of June, three weeks later than its normal start date.

The show will return for a new run this summer after last year's edition was cancelled due to coronavirus, with producers hopeful of filming at the usual villa on the Spanish island of Majorca.

Recent reports have suggested that the entire cast - including late arrivals - and the crew will be flown out in advance in order to complete coronavirus quarantine, while a back-up villa in Jersey is said to have been earmarked in case of any difficulties travelling to Majorca.

According to the Daily Mail, due to the extra preparations required, the crew are not currently due to fly out until June 20, "with the series expected to launch a week later".

With each new series typically beginning on a Monday night, the news suggests that this year's show will begin on Monday, June 28.

Contrary to previous speculation that ITV may stage a bumper series to make up for last year, the new series is expected to run to the usual eight weeks, ending some time in late August.

Meanwhile, the newspaper says that the winter edition of the show - staged in January and February 2020 - has been "indefinitely postponed" for the time being. body check tags ::
