Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio has revealed that he has not started work on a potential seventh series of the popular drama.
The sixth series - broadcast earlier this year - was the most popular yet, with an average of more than 15 million viewers tuning in each week.
Another series would appear to be a no-brainer, but speaking on BBC Breakfast, Mercurio claimed that he has not even started to think about developing it.
"Look, I mean we're all so thrilled by the response to season six," he said. "It did so well and it's fantastic to be part of something like that, an absolute once-in-a-lifetime experience that the cast and I all really loved being part of.
"So, yeah, if there was a way, we'd obviously look at that seriously. But just being honest with you right now, we don't have a plan in place."
The news means that should series seven get the go-ahead, it is unlikely to air before 2023. body check tags ::
