Amy Conachan's Courtney Campbell leaves Hollyoaks after more than five years in the village.

Amy Conachan has left Hollyoaks after more than five years on the show, it has been confirmed.

The character of Courtney Campbell was seen leaving the village in a taxi in last night's E4 first-look episode, having decided to accept a job running a school in Scotland.

Courtney had initially decided to reject the new career opportunity after Sid (Billy Price) pleaded with her to stay but he eventually realised that he had guilt-tripped her and told her to go for it.

"Being on Hollyoaks has been one of the biggest honours of my life," said Conachan. "I'm grateful for everything; from all that it taught me to the lifelong friends it gave me.

"Travelling to Spain and filming a drug smuggling scandal was definitely a highlight. I already miss Courtney and her bad decision-making ways."
