Next week on Emmerdale, Paddy returns to the village to make amends with friends and family - and then, in heartbreaking scenes, he prepares to take his own life.

Elsewhere, Amy presses ahead with her plan to get full custody of Kyle, Leyla puts Jai in an awkward position and Marshall's dad has unkind words for Arthur.

Arthur's big day arrives

Arthur's delighted when Marshall stays to listen to his speech at the LGBTQ+ History Month event. But when Marshall's dad Colin finds the pair outside the village hall, he insults Arthur before marching Marshall away.

Laurel's beaming with pride as Arthur delivers his big speech.

Leyla makes a pass at Jai

After hearing about her decree nisi, Jai checks in on Leyla. She gets the wrong end of the stick and moves in to kiss him, just as Laurel is walking past.

Leyla's upset when Jai tells her that he can no longer be the one to support her in her recovery - but before too long, Suzy steps up to the plate for Leyla.

Cain discovers Amy's plan

Matty asks Amy if her getting sole custody of Kyle is really what's best for him.

With Kyle terrified ahead of his hearing, a desperate Cain barges into Keepers to see his son. Caleb persuades Amy to let them have a moment.

Kyle's solicitor phones with big news - but is it good news?

Amy spontaneously proposes to Matty and later, he admits to Moira that he thinks Amy only proposed in order to better her chances of getting full custody of Kyle.

After learning that Amy is going for full custody, Cain storms over and bangs on her door as Moira does her best to calm him down.

Paddy hits rock bottom

A dishevelled Paddy arrives at the Woolpack, leaving everyone in shock. Chas is fuming but softens when she sees Paddy's obvious hurt when he's reunited with Eve. Paddy makes out like everything is fine to Marlon, but when Marlon leaves, it's clear that Paddy is an utterly broken man.

Paddy spends his day making things up to his family and friends - but unbeknownst to all of them, he's actually saying his goodbyes.

After Paddy's gone, Bear discovers a shocking letter from his son - leaving everyone desperately scrambling to find him.

Paddy hits rock bottom - and in moving scenes, we see his suicidal thoughts as he gears up to take his own life.

Naomi arranges to go with Alex for a drink, oblivious of the trouble she's getting into.

Charles is shocked to see Naomi on a date with Alex and worries about what she's letting herself in for, while Dawn's also thrown by the situation.
