EastEnders has promised viewers "explosive secrets, heart-stopping drama and devastating heartbreak" as 2023 dawns in Walford.

Whitney (Shona McGarty) and Zack (James Farrar) are preparing to become parents but a figure from Zack's past arrives in the Square with bombshell news that throws him in a tailspin.

At The Vic, Linda (Kellie Bright) is "floundering" after losing Mick (Danny Dyer) as she looks at rebuilding her life without her true love next to her. And what does his disappearance mean for the future of The Vic itself?

Jack (Scott Maslen) and Denise (Diane Parish) enter the new year with their relationship under severe strain as they struggle to come to terms with Amy's (Ellie Dadd) self-harming. They both have differing views on how to deal with the situation, and they also both have people willing to provide them with a shoulder to cry on...

Meanwhile, the realisation hits for Lola (Danielle Harold) and Jay (Jamie Borthwick) that they have limited time left so they try to cram in as much as they can. But then a photo from the past sends Lola on one final quest.

EastEnders continues Mondays to Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One.
