Noel Clarke has been accused of sexual harassment by multiple women during his time working on Doctor Who.

Last month The Guardian published accounts from 20 women who had accused Clarke of bullying, harassment and other inappropriate behaviour on set of various productions over the years.

The 45-year-old strenuously denied the allegations against him but he was swiftly dropped by ITV and Sky, while his special achievement award from BAFTA was taken back.

In a follow-up report today, The Guardian contains new allegations of sexual assault from several women who worked alongside the actor during his time on Doctor Who.

Clarke starred as Mickey Smith - boyfriend of Billie Piper's Rose Tyler - for the first two series of the rebooted cult show in 2005 and 2006, although the character was later brought back several times - most recently in 2010.

The new report features claims from a costume assistant that Clarke made inappropriate sexual comments towards her during a fitting of an outfit in his trailer in August 2004, including a remark that he "liked girls with long hair, as it gave him something to hold on to when doing them from behind".

A runner responsible for driving Clarke to set alleges that he touched her "inappropriately" on her hand and leg during a journey, while another runner claims that he made advances towards her and another colleague in a bar after a work event.

The newspaper also features a complaint from an unnamed "Doctor Who actor", who said of Clarke: "He made advances on me, regularly asking me if I wanted a 'piece of his dark chocolate'."

In a statement, a BBC spokesperson said: "To be absolutely clear, we will investigate any specific allegations made by individuals to the BBC – and if anyone has been subjected to or witnessed inappropriate behaviour of any kind we would encourage them to raise it with us directly.

"We have a zero tolerance approach and robust processes are in place – which are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect best practice – to ensure any complaints or concerns are handled with the utmost seriousness and care."

Clarke's lawyers told the newspaper that he refutes the latest allegations against him. body check tags ::
