Jack P Shepherd has revealed that he has no plans to leave his role as David Platt on Coronation Street any time soon.

The soap is renowned for having cast members who stay in their roles for decades - including 90-year-old Bill Roache, who has played Ken Barlow for the last 62 years.

Shepherd joined Corrie as a 12-year-old in 2000 and has already racked up an impressive 22 years playing David, and in a new interview with Digital Spy he admitted that he views the show as a second home.

"It's the people, as boring as that sounds," he said. "If you like the people you work with and they make you laugh, you come away thinking, 'That was fun, let's do it again tomorrow.'

"It's only when you're unhappy at work that you leave, and I'm not.

"People want to go off and branch out into other things, and that's fine.

"However, I've always really got on with everyone I work with, and the show still gives me good stories so I'd be silly to leave!"

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
