Sky has unveiled a new product called Sky Glass which integrates the broadcaster's services into a TV.

The new service works entirely through the internet, meaning that for the first time, customers will be able to watch the complete Sky service without the need for a satellite dish or set-top box providing that they have a suitably fast internet connection.

Apps will be seamlessly integrated with the service, including Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4, Spotify and the BT Sport app - all available from launch.

Familiar features from Sky Q - live pause, rewind and restart - are included, although "recorded" programmes are not stored locally but instead in the cloud, accessible through a personal 'Watchlist'.

The TV is 4K UHD, with HDR10, Dolby Vision and HLG, while there are three outwards-firing speakers, two upwards-firing speakers and a subwoofer.

Sky Glass comes in three sizes - small (43"), medium (55") and large (65") - and the cost of the device is spread over either 24 months at £26, £34 or £42 a month respectively, 48 months at £13, £17 or £21 a month respectively, or as an upfront payment. The repayments roughly price the cost of the devices at £644 (small), £836 (medium) and £1,028 (large).

Accessing Sky on other TVs in the home will require a device called a 'Sky Puck' - the equivalent of a Sky Q minibox - which will cost £50 per puck and a £10 a month surcharge covering all pucks. Unlike Sky Q miniboxes, the Sky Pucks are 4K HDR compatible.

Sky Glass is available to buy from Monday, October 18. body check tags ::
