GB News has tweaked its transmission configuration on satellite to expand its reach across most of Europe.

The news channel was previously carried on a satellite and transponder with a spot beam tightly focused on the UK and Ireland, but a switch to transponder 103 on Astra 2G means that its footprint stretches down to the Mediterranean, out east to the Baltics and as far north as southern Scandinavia. The northern tip of Africa and the Canary Islands should also be in reception range.

The move is designed to make the channel freely available to expats and other interested viewers on the continent, as well as holidaymakers watching TVs in hotels.

GB News chief exec Angelos Frangopoulos said: "Working with our transmission partner, we have made GB News available to millions of locations including all homes, hotels and bars across Europe already equipped with satellite equipment.

"We already have a passionate following of viewers in Europe, including many expats who enjoy watching GB News live on YouTube, our website, and other platforms.

"This is the first time that they'll be able to enjoy GB News through their satellite-connected televisions as well."

GB News's EPG numbers on Sky and Freesat remain unchanged at 512 and 216 respectively. body check tags ::
