The EFL has called a meeting of its 72 clubs next week in order to hold a vote on a proposed new broadcast rights deal.

Earlier this month the league announced that incumbent broadcaster Sky Sports was its preferred bidder for the next set of rights, which will run for a three-year period beginning 2024-25.

That news came after it emerged that DAZN had submitted a bid to show every single game from the Championship, League One and League Two live, a move which would necessitate lifting the long-standing '3pm Saturday' broadcast blackout.

The EFL has spent the last month in exclusive negotiations with Sky over the terms of the deal and will present an update to EFL clubs next Friday, May 5, for indicative approval.

The details of Sky's proposal are still not known, including whether the broadcaster has matched DAZN's offer for full coverage, although at the very least the number of games broadcast per season is expected to rise notably from the current tally of 138.
